Jeremiah was a prophet who was considerably young when he heeded God's call to preach and prophesy. He serves as an example to young Christians that it does not matter how old you are, only that you are willing to be obedient to God. He preached of Israel's fall to Babylon for over 60 years, but few believed him. Jeremiah really felt for his people and lamented in the open squres, hence, he is referred to as the "weeping prophet."

Hi, the Prophet Jeremiah was active in Jerusalem during the city`s destruction by the Babylonians,he prophesied during the reigns of several Kings and His messages were prophecies of destruction for Jerusalem,
`Lo, I am bringing against you,O House of Israel, a nation from afar, declares the Lord an enduring nation whose language you do not know, their quivers are like a yawning grave, they are mighty men.they will devour your harvest and food, they will devour your Sons and your Daughters.
this was a very stern warning against the disobebience of the Israelites and Jeremiah was hotly rejected for this message.
the people had forsaken the Torah and had turned to Idolatry and God was about to use the Babylonians to bring His justice upon them.
Although Jeremiah was an apocalyptic Prophet he emphasized the temporary nature of the destruction and the consolation to be found in the Israelite return to the land, so he was a Prophet of Gods justice and also His mercy.
