I had concerns about my car and I asked the mechnic if it would fail on the road and his reply was that "I''d even have my own mother drive it"
Was he being flirty? Why use his mother as an example?

Some people just use this as an example to prove their point. It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion if you are that concerned. I usually do just to make sure.

You asked him if "the car would fail on the road", right? His response was "No, I'd even have my own mother drive it..." Okay... so therefore the car is so safe and will not fail on the road that he would allow his mother to drive it. People regard their mothers as the most important people in their lives. He was just trying to tell you, your car will not break down.

It does not sound like he was being flirty.Mother's are generally held in high respect.So he was telling you that he would trust that even his mother would be ok in this car.Someone he holds dear in his heart.Now,just because he said that does not mean it's true.Some people will say anything to convince you what they want you to believe.If you are worried about your car,take it to another mechanic and get a second opinion.

mechanics have a different kind of language, they do not tend to hurt you,they deal with a lot of people everyday rude and polite here he means that your car is safe and he will even alow his mother to drive it,but he is well sure that his mother shall not be harmed,so shall you to it is nothing as flirtness,do not mind there language is just,you have not been with truckers,you will be shocked and sorry as how they speak.

maybe he has great love for his mother and he thinks your car is safe so he would let his mother drive it but i think its a little flirty

well i doubt it... it could of meant he thinks your an old woman like his mother, or it could of meant it's safe cause he 'd let his mother drive it or if he does not like his mother much it could mean it's dangerous,, why don;t you just ring him back and ask the man, while your there ask him out ..lol
