Cheers Michael C, we are staying Friday, Saturday, Sunday and we come home Monday night. If the shops are closed on Sunday then we will go to Ellis Island as this is some where the wife has wanted to visit for a long time. I can't wait!!

Your unfortunate that its thanksgiving as everywhere will be closed on that day its like Christmas day here only more so,but having said that i am sure that the Christmas decorations will be up and they are a sight to behold ,every tree in Manhattan every twig is covered with lights Macy's is not to be missed not only for the shopping but for the decorations as well . I would also recommend a vist to Bloomingdale's where the service is wonderful and that's saying a lot because I found the service in new york second to no where If your staying in Manhattan do use the subway it is perfectly safe at any time and is much the cheapest and quickest form of transport.I dont know how long your staying but after you see the must see sights statue of liberty etc.your wife would enjoy a trip to woodbury common where there are selection of retail shops you can take a bus from the port authority any one will tell you how to get there the fare i think is about 30 dollars but your wife will recoup that with what she saves on her shopping I only wish I were going back for another visit good luck and enjoy yourself
