I ran out of my good shampoo a while back and started using some cheaper stuff for a few months till I got my regular again. During that time and still now my head got dandruffy and sort of little hair folicel bits in it - looks bad on dark hair!
Can anyone tell me how to give my scalp a good deep cleanse to set me back on the path of a lovely head of hair again.

i know its not proper dandruff, that just the easiest discription. I tried anti dandruff anyhow and it didnt make a difference. I havent seen clarifying shampoos, but will have a look (i live in a small country with a limited brand and product availabilty).

Shampoo cannot cause dandruff. It can, however, cause dryness or buildup, both of which can lead to flaking that may resemble dandruff. Other than that, I'm pretty sure the dandruff is unrelated to your choice of shampoo.

To clear product buildup, use a 'clarifying' shampoo. To soothe dryness, switch to a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. To cure actual dandruff - well, duh! - select a dandruff shampoo.

Deep-cleansing the hair is not rocket science. One lathering with clarifying shampoo is enough to cleanse even motor oil off your strands. :-)

Neutrogena T-Gel is great for deep cleaning. It doesn't smell the greatest, but your hair and scalp will be super clean.
