Photosynthesis , basically occurs in two distinct phases. 1) Light reaction & 2) Dark reaction
Both are part of photosynthesis
6CO2 + 12H2 O -> LIGHT & CHLOROPLAST> = C6 H12 O6 + 6H2 O + 6O2
The above is the often quoted equation of the process
1) Light reaction or the Hill’s reaction occurs in the grana of a chloroplast.
Sun’s light energy is used to convert ADP in to ATP …………. (i)
NADP is converted in to NADP. H2…………………………… (ii)
It can occur only in the presence of light, hence the name.
2) Dark reaction or Calvin’s cycle occurs in the stroma of a chloroplast.
Light plays no role in it. Hence called dark reaction.
With the help of the two products of light reaction, i.e. ATP & NADP.H2 glucose is manufactured from CO2 and H2 O i. e. carbon dioxide gas and water.
The CO2 in the above equation comes from the atmosphere and enters through the stomata on the leaves.
The H2 O in above equation comes from the soil through the roots, stem and xylem elements.
A single molecule of Glucose (C6 H12 O6) requires all the six molecules of carbon dioxide gas but only 50% of water ( Only 6 out of 12 H2 O molecules entering the reaction (see the equation)
Remaining 50% water ( The water you are talking about, I presume) and the O2 gas is released back in the atmosphere as a byproduct ( and not waste product) . There is no room for waste in the nature.
It is wholly man made and he is paying for that and will continue to pay dearly for his tampering with the Nature!
Edit---> The 50% water that is released in the atmosphere through the stomata comes from the soil...................(1)
This is recombined water, after spltting of the orginal water molecules in to hydrogen and oxygen to extract electrons
for the manufacture of ATP and NADP.H2...................(2)
In short, all the molecules out of the 12 original are utilised
one way or the other..................(3)

Photosynthesis uses the energy of light to make the glucose. A simple general equation for photosynthesis follows.
6 CO2 + 12 H2O + light â C6H12O6 + 6 O2 + 6 H2O
(carbon dioxide + water + light energy â glucose + oxygen + water)
Photosynthesis occurs in two stages. In the first phase light-dependent reactions or photosynthetic reactions capture the energy of light and use it to make high-energy molecules. During the second phase, the light-independent reactions use the high-energy molecules to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) and make the precursors of glucose.
In the light-dependent reactions the pigment chlorophyll absorbs light and loses an electron that travels down an electron transport chain producing the high energy molecules NADPH and ATP. The chlorophyll molecule regains its electron by taking one from a water molecule through a process called photolysis, that releases oxygen gas as a byproduct.
In the Light-independent or dark reactions the enzyme RuBisCO captures CO2 from the atmosphere and in a complex process called the Calvin-Benson cycle releases 3-carbon sugars which are later combined to form glucose.

Water is not a waste product of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis (light - combining) happens when plants use chlorophyll to organize the combining of water with carbon dioxide to form sugar. Sunlight is required to provide the energy that holds the atoms together in the sugar molecule.
Later, the sugar molecule will be split up in the process of respiration within the cells of animals that eat the sugar. The sugar molecule is split back into the water and carbon dioxide - some additional oxygen is required, sothe animals breath in air to get the extra oxygen. The energy that is released in the respiration process is used to power the animals body.

I am so glad someone asked this question because no-one ever mentions the fact that carbon dioxide is absorbed by plants to make carbohydrates, i.e. our food. It is referred to as a poison. I think people confuse it with carbon monoxide, which is poisonous. Nor can water ever be a 'waste product' of anything. Water is the prime essential of life.
Actually, I think you are a teeny bit confused here.
Water combines with carbon dioxide in the presence of chlorophyll and sunlight to make a complex substance, a carbohydrate (starch, as in potatoes). This is the essence of photosynthesis - the way plants grow, which we humans take advantage of. We eat fruit and vegetables which give us energy but also make us grow.

Water arises as waste product of Respiration. Photosinthesis breaksa a water molecule down. That's probably whay you can´t find the answer in the books.
