I have 5 daughters and when I found out I was finally having a son I wanted a strong but different name. I named him REEF. He is 11 now and I get many positive comments about his name. It suited him when he was a baby and it is still a good strong name for adulthood. One syllabel names are always good for boys. It also cant be shortened.
As for girls names I think you can use just about anything. Oceania is a nice name along the same theme as Reef.
Have fun!

Whatever you name your baby remember that one day he or she will be 40 !!! Some names that are given when in fashion are ridiculous as adults. We couldn't decide on our baby all the way through but took one look at her and both decided on Emma because she suited it and still does at 28 ! My name is Catherine and I have always liked it..as a child I was Kate to my Dad, Cath to my Mum and as I grew I became Cathy to all that know me though I have one good friend who calls me Kitty which is quite sweet. Wait till your baby is born and decide what suits this new little person.

I had the same problem, my husband was really into Martha for our first, but he settled on Willow ( Middle name Olivia), and our second, also a girl is called Anya (Middle name Rose). I wanted to call Anya Lucca ( even though Im not sure if it is a girls name) Scarlett was also one of my faves. For a boy I wanted either Harry, Hamish or Reuben.

Happy choosing!!!!!

Have fun deciding. When I was pregnant with my second child my husband who is a great battle star galactica fan wanted to call it Starbuck if it was a boy. I was argued furiously against it saying the poor child's life would be a misery. Thank the lord she was a girl (and he didn't know that Starbuck is a girl's name too) so we decided on Stephanie. She's nearly 16 now and decide to change her name to Starbuck anyway.

Moral? doesn't matter what name you choose, when it comes to kids you can't win.

you need to choose a name that will suit a baby as well as child, teenager and adult!

its hard but consider when the child goes to school, you wouldnt want it bullied cos of their name!

also look at the initials, if the 3 initials spells something silly, i.e. FAT or JCB they could be in for stick too!!!
