Everyone was very supportive. My grandparents gave the most support, as they came from the WWII generation and always had a great deal of respect for the US military.

surprised and proud. once you graduate from basic, thats just how you'll feel. i have some great memories from the service and friends i could never forget. if you think you have what it takes to leave home and jump into reality military style, then you probably do.

when i told my mom i was joining the marines she was okay with it she worried like every other caring mother should but my dad thought it was not a very well thought out idea but when he found out i didn't make up my mind over night he was cool with it.
