Nine Dances

Alibi, Boron, Camomile and Dunce took their wives to the Tennis Club Dance. They dances nine dances, and, by general agreement, none of the four men danced any of them with his own wife. Morover, the eight dancers paired off differently for each of the nine dances.

Is this possible? Certainly it is.
Alibi danced the first two dances with Mrs. Boron, and the next with fascinating Claire Camomile. For the fourth, fifth, and sixth dances, Boron's partner was Minnehaha Dunce. Dunce danced the seventh dance with his sister, Nectarine Alibi, and the eighth with Mrs. Camomile.

How were the eight dancers paired for the last dance?

Alibi - Mrs Dunce
Boron - Mrs Camomile
Camomile - Mrs Alibi
Dunce - Mrs Boron

Since no one danced with their own wife, there were only 9 possible combinations. You need to work out a graph of all the possible combinations and then you can just plug them into a chart for the nine dances. They give you one person for every dance, so there is only one combination left for the ninth dance.

For example: (follow the columns down)
A - B - C - D (if man A dances with woman B, there are 6 possibilities)

B - A - C - D (C and D dancing with spouses, not a combo)
B - A - D - C
B - C - A - D (D dancing with spouse, not a combo)
B - C - D - A
B - D - C - A (C dancing with spouse, not a combo)
B - D - A - C

So there are three possible combinations here. If you work out A dancing with C and D, there are three possible combinations for those as well, totaling nine possible combinations.
