Ok here's the deal. I CANNOT sleep at night. It's almost like I have the night and day mixed up because come morning time I can pass right out. I have two children and my sleeping habits are KILLING ME. I have tried every medication out there....over the counter, Ambien, Lunesta. I think I have built up a resistance to all of them because none of them work anymore. HELP!! I can't keep going on this way......Suggestions, tips, anything??? Thanks everyone!

lol...so true. Most people who are going to answer right now are probably going through the same thing. But YES! It is sooooo hard to try and stay awake during the day. I am a stay at home mom and just sitting here all day makes it next to impossible to NOT fall asleep. Errrr!!!

lol...China sounds good right about now. Believe it or not, the longest I have ever gone without sleep is 72 hours. 3 STRAIGHT DAYS.....and guess when I finally passed out...yup, on the morning of the 3rd day....not the NIGHT of course!! This runs in my family....Ambien was BY FAR the best I had ever taken but my current Dr (I get a new one every couple of months bc my husband is in the military and hey, thats the military system for you!) doesnt feel like someone should be on a sleep aid all the time.

LOL move to Japan or China or someplace that agrees with you.

Sorry, couldn't help it. Are you scared of the dark or is it that you had some job that changed your cycle? Or is it that you are more stressed than usual and can't stop worrying?

The easiest way to fall asleep is to decide that you'll stay up for the next 48 hours without a wink. Convince yourself you gotta do this.
You'll fall asleep.

Hey there, have you ever had a sleep study done on you? I would suggest that you have one. It is possible you could have a condition known as sleep apnea. I know you will probably say I don't snore because I don't ever go to sleep. You would be surprised what you do you while in bed. Let someone watch the kids and have yourself checked out. Insomnia can be caused by many different things. Eliminate caffeine late in the day, exercises when you can, don't eat too late, and reading will help, as well. If your insomnia still persists ask your doctor about Rozerem or Trazodone. Take care and good luck.

Welcome to my world! Today I woke up around 6pm. :)
So the answers to this madness...
Well what really, actually works. Is acupuncture. Yes, fun with needles. It's all about Yin/Yang Day/Night Earth/Sun. yada yada yada.
The other thing is I would almost bet you aren’t exercising much. Go outside in the day. Go see the ocean if it's near by, if not, a nice cool lake. You're probably seeking Yin.
I sincerely believe between regular daytime* exercise, acupuncture, some chamomile tea, and the will to change, you'll be sleeping at night in no time.
Oh and go get a massage. Relax and release.
good luck, ta ta.

Well in my case I was diagnosed a severe manic depressant which contributed to insomnia and addiction. I finally asked for help and was prescribed Zoloft and Trazadone. The longest I ever stayed up without drugs or alcohol was 12 days straight. If your anything like me take prescribed drugs but I am a pretty severe case.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

I feel so bad for you. Especially because you have kids. There are several herb teas that help relax you, one is called Nighty Night, Tension Tamer and I drink Passion Flower tea. But you have to give it time once you start a regiment. By now, your body is used to being up at night. Also, try playing a small hand held solitaire game before you go to sleep. I do and it always makes me so sleepy that my eyes start closing. I hope these suggestions help you. Good luck.

try this if you can't sleep at night just sign in your mind, you know songs that are very old( i suggest beegees) and while singing in your mind try to imagine yourself in a dream....make up a dream...or before you go to sleep stare at the ceiling or watch a movie...don't think negative thought ok like there's a ghost or i'll die if i sleep...and during the day try to play with your kids...or read a good book( for a bookworm like me it helps!) depends if you have money( darn! can't buy books if you have no money right...that's the problem i'm facing right now...) or try drinking coffee( not too much it's bad for your health)

Have u tried cutting back on your caffene? What about joining a gym rhat you can go to after dinner? Or ask your Doc for some Temazapan. Ambien or lunesta never worked for me either.

I have the same problem. Well.. i use trazedone and it works, but since yoiu say youve tried it all... the only way to go is to wake up EARLY, and force yourself to stay away the whole day.. Be with friends, go out....its much easier.. its a battle of willpower.. GOOD LUCK
