So, I need a bussiness-like introduction to a letter - not too formal but not too informat either. Please help me!

Dear Mr. ________. Depends on what type of letter it is also. But a person in a superior position is always started out that way.

Is that person related? Then its dear Uncle John
If its a non relation, does he know you well enough to start it
Dear Mr Jones...? that is a normal start to any letter. If its someone who is in some sort of authority you might use their title but not if your on a first name basis with him.

How well do you know this person? What is his title? I mean is he a doctor, the Pope, a Diplomat?
