Not yet. Only two more days.

I ran out of factory ammo for my 8mm Mauser, which is what I sighted it in with. It was a 40 mile drive to get to a place that stocked it.

I started using my handloads. A guy gave me a Lee handloader a couple of years ago, and I loaded up just a few couple, so I started with them. Apparently they're about 25% hotter than the factory loads and it's been shooting over everything...

Well, actually, I've only gotten one shot in.
The guy I'm hunting with had to sell his 270 and hasn't shot deer slugs before (which was the only other thing I had to use).
He's got a great place where he can hunt, but he's shot at about three and missed them all. We finally checked it out and it was hitting about a foot higher - still perfectly centered though.

I had it almost dialed in and was about out of 170gr Remington bullets and primers. I made the 40-mile trip for more, and of course, all they had this time were 150gr Hornady Interlocks.
Checked those and dialed it down 12 clicks.

I think it's sighted in now and I'm using it tomorrow - he gets the smooth-bore.

I hope so - only two days left.

I shot an odd deer this year during bow season. He was a 13 point with 3 brow tines on one side and 2 on the other. He had another point sticking out from the antler burr. He would have been a basket racked 9 point without all the odd points, a nice deer in my book, also he was a nice fat deer. I got him when the corn was still up in October. He was around 160 field dressed.

I got a 4 pointer. He had a damaged rack, One set had broken and regrown back together and the other had the points rounded to two small stubs. Field dressed out to 120 lbs and will be good eating though. Good shotplacement with a double lung and hit the major arteries going to the heart. He ran less than 50 yards. I used a .50 muzzleloader.

I killed the ugliest looking buck ever. It was a seven point, but the right side looked like a moose and the left side was bent backwards and kinda looked like a grappling hook and had one drop tine. That sucker had to get out of the gene pool, and ugly or not he's gonna taste mighty nice!
