I mean really...all of their celebrations were stolen from the Pagans they tried to proselytize.

Christmas was originally YULE, it was (is) a celebration of the winter solstice, and was stolen from the Pagans, Christians stole it in order to get Pagans to convert, there is no proof Jesus was born on December 25th.

So if I were born in a manger I would autmatically be born on December 25th.
I'm not sure what a manger has to do with this question.

Ok people, I'm using the term Pagan in the broad definition of the term;
A person who does not acknowledge your god.
A person who follows a polytheistic or pre-Christian religion (not a Christian or Muslim or Jew) .
Not acknowledging the God of Christianity and Judaism and Islam.

Hebrew would be Judaism and Arab would be Muslim and since Christianity emerged from Judaism in the century after the death of Herod the Great. and Islam emerged some 600 years later...

Yes they are, they truly believe jesus was born on dec.25 and easter was the day he was ressurected.Easter should be an easy one ,though, Easter=Aoustre/ostara,roman goddess of dawn.It seems the Catholic Church's conversion/brainwashing techniques boomeranged on them in the end,i.e.,more christians celebrate pagan holidays than pagans celebrate(d) christian ones.Take skylolo for example, yes according to your mythology, jesus was born in a manger(doesn't say what day of the year),was crucified and was resurrected(ditto),according to OUR mythology our god dies EVERY YEAR (around sept.22) and is resurrected every year around (march 21) we have several major holidays, eight in all. Beginning around Dec 22. we had a celebration that lasted for MANY DAYS (as many as 12,hence the 12 days of Christmas song that arose later)to honor his resurrection and the eminence of Spring, March 21 we celebrate a holiday called Ostara, which as the Quester already stated, is, Germanic in origin ;celebrating his return. You already know halloween is pagan which christians freely admit (as they consider it satanic, but still use it as an excuse to get drunk and commit mischeivous acts)but it was originally a Celtic holiday called Samhain. The common versions of these holidays celebrated by christians, are simply white-washed versions of our age -old practices with christian elements added in where they took out the good parts. You christians are all victims of your own conversion techniques.

Good question! I'm also Wiccan, and what I wonder about it why some wont let their kids do Halloween things as its an 'evil Pagan' holiday (Samhain) yet they let their kids have easter eggs and celebrate Chrstmas. Seems as bit strange to me

Pancake: I did say some, I know there are a lot of people out there like you, thankfully. Its just the few that take it to extremes that scare me in a way!

We Christians do not have an identy problem. We know who we are and we know the truth that God tells us from the Bible. We are not worried if we celebrate a holiday or not. All we care about is what we can do to serve the Lord our God. Christmas is to represent the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ, who died to save us all from sin. No one knows the exact date of His birth, but if you are smart you will know that December 25th is just a day set aside for this special day.
Who cares about the holidays, and who stole them. Christmas has turned into nothing but a bunch of greedy people wanting expensive gifts. I am sure you are one of them who desperatly needs to be saved from this misery. Good luck and may you find the passage to the truth about our Lord God and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen and God Bless!

If you research the cult of Mithra you will be surprised. Almost everybody celebrated winter solstice as far back as records exist. Almost everybody but the Hebrews and Arabs who had a calender based on the lunar cycle

Hi there. I am a Christian and yes, some christian religions had adopted pagan celebrations in order to convert pagans. In my opinion, DUMB move.
I belong to a church that does not participate in such "pagan" celebrations.

Pagans... Which Pagans??
I mean there has been like thousands of religions and at least one day is holy to each and we only have 365.... So it is pretty obvious that no matter what the religion it is sharing a holiday with someone else.
Also, there isn't a big group under which you say, PAGAN. So, stop it with that crap. There are Wiccans, Druids, et cetera, et cetera. But they are all different.

As you're no doubt aware, Christians incorporated any number of aspects of local pagan worship into their local version of christianity, the better to convert.
It's a mishmash, like all religions.
