i saw it on a website with mitch hedberg:
That would be cool if you could eat a good food with a bad food and the good food would cover for the bad food when it got to your stomach. Like you could eat a carrot with an onion ring and they would travel down to your stomach, then they would get there, and the carrot would say, "It's cool, he's with me."
can anyone please explain all the various meanings this could have... thnx

Two probabilities:

1. The Low cholesterol food is accepted and the junk is not allowed to deposit it's crud in our system.

2. If a food is spoiled and would cause a sickness, e.g. food poisoning, the good food would cover it and we would stay well.

ooops 3rd idea - the Glycemic Index - how carbohydrates affect your system - bread and potatoes are a HIGH category, but if eaten with a low category item - the HIGH is mitigated and does not hurt yuou compared to eating it alone.

This sounds like something Jerry Seinfeld would say in his monologue.
A lot of people like so-called "bad" food (like onions rings and burgers and other fast food restaurant offerings) because they "seem" to be tasty. But bad foods are full of unnecessary calories, fats, sugars, chemical additives and are generally rough on your health and well-being.
Something like a carrot is full of nutrients, fat-free and really good for you. But they don't taste like fast food.
Using an onion ring as an escort to get your stomach to "accept" the healthier (but not preferred) carrot is like name-dropping to get into an exclusive disco or backstage at a concert. "I'm with him."
"O.K. Come on through."

This quote has been chosen strategically to mean a lot. It means that the good would try to change the bad by using their wisdom and good nature.

well, i just think that not all bad foods are basically bad in our health, like for instance when it is with good foods they always had the possibility to have great interaction with each other making also useful in some cases.....for example healthy foods with bacterias may boost also your immune system.....

it's like yin and yang i guess. they're balanced when together but without the other it's lethal. or it would be like eating chicharon and downing it with pineapple juice to lower the effect of chicharon which is high in cholesterol.

i think it could mean that it would be nice if in life the bad things that happen to us could be outweighed or "erased" by the good things...;
