I told my new bf a little lie. I hate my surname so much that i gave my mother marriage name instead and said that was my name. He found out anyway and he started questioning me about it. Then i started to get confused when he asked my sisters surname and i hesitated for what seemed like minutes and i didnt know what to say so i said she lied about her name aswell,and i dont know why i said that but it was so stupid and i feel so humiliated now,he's probably thinking jeez she dont even know her sisters surname and she must be hiding something(he's a cop which makes me feel more bad)i cant stop thinking about how stupid i been,how do i get over this or explain myself better?

You can make yourself feel better by realizing that it's OK to use your mother's maiden name. It is not a lie. In many countries, both the mother's and father's names are used. Many people change their names all the time; and even do so without going through legal procedures. This does not make them bad. Laugh it off with your new bf. Let him know that you were trying out your mother's name to see how it fit. Tell him you feel kind of silly that you didn't tell him in the first place. Decide what name you want to use. Wear it with pride. It is your name and your choice. Now, start over with you bf, let the feeling of humiliation go, and replace it with a sense of humor. Now is the time to find out if he has a good sense of humor too.

Just be straight up. Trust me I hate my last name and if you knew what it was you would prlly laugh. Anyways Just tell him and explain and if he understands then thats cool cause that means he listens with an open mind. If he like freaks out on you then dump him and find someone that loves your Last name :)

sit down with him and exolain the deceptionive lie as best..and why...if you dont...it will come back to haunt you some-day ..if your relationship starts to mature...like you should be doing ..Right now.!!.
