That's really tough...I don't envy you. Quarantine is very tough on dogs, especially for that long. Dogs are pack animals so being alone is like torture for them. Since he is so young and still developing it could be detrimental to his psychological health. Hopefully you are still able to visit and play with him daily. I would seriously consider re-homing him in the US though...I just don't think I could put my dog through that. Not to mention the 15+ hour flight in cargo. I can't imagine that would be very safe at all.

As I have lived in several countries I have flown pets several times. In fact my current dog (sheltie/poodle mix) has lived on 3 different continents! Although he hates flying, he has managed all flights well and the bit of quarantine. These days quarantine is not bad for animals as they are pampered and spoiled more than you realize while they are there! His most recent flight, in July of this year, from Saudi Arabia to South Africa cost us about US$1000 and a bit more for the quarantine. He also had to have a microchip put in and an International Health Certificate. We had a cat come with us too.

Pets are family members so I would go ahead and take the pet. Shelties and poodles are known to be a bit high strung and my dog (and the cat) managed well. All together my dog has been on 4 flights and he is now 7 years old. Don't worry!

As far as the cost and everything I am not too sure about. The one thing I can tell you is that we in the military have to do it a lot and I know that the dogs are just happy to be with there family once the quarantine is over with. Yeah, it kinda sucks for a little bit but it's better than them being without you for the long haul..Know what I mean? I think your little puppy will be okay. If I had to go back overseas I would take my dog in a heartbeat....quarantine and all. As far as the charge....I hope you can find a better price elsewhere. Good luck!

My 3 dogs went from Puerto Rico to North Carolina. Defiantly demanding for them & us. you're probable very linked on your dogs, even if it extremely is extremely helpful to to evaluate merchandising or gifting away your doggy and getting a clean one in Australia. different than for the value and quarintine,it extremely is totally problematical on the animal and shrink to rubble thier doggy ideas. in spite of occurs stable luch inclusive of your circulate!

well i brought my 2 cats with me from USA to Greece. it sure didn't cost that much and there was no quarantine.
but first we had to give them all there shots and to put them the microchip... go to a vet and ask him what are the exact vaccination your puppy needs to travel and ask the airline as well to tell you exactly what are the Australian requirements, because i think every country requires different thing in order to let pets in.
