I was going to cut out a picture of him from the newspaper, but someone didn't let me, telling me that only a few years ago, it was illegal to do so.

Is it still illegal to do that, even if for joke purposes?

i`ve never heard of it being illegal.. but in north korea you can probably be killed for disrespecting him.
