You can go to a feed store and get a bottle of blue lotion and put it on the ears where they are bleeding this lotion will turn purple. If you get it on you're skin you're skin will be purple for a few days and so will anything it touches it does not wash off so do not use it on an inside pet. If you're dog is an inside pet you may want to talk to a vet before trying the blue. Good luck!!

Hi Sean, That happen to my dogs, and what i did was got a can of bag balm. Rub it in the infected area, which should be the tips of the ears. This will keep the flies off and keep the ears from cracking. It also speeds the healing up.
You can get the bag balm at wal-mart. Go to the pet section and look for a 10oz. green tin can. It will have bag balm wrote across the front. This stuff really works. I think the cost was $4.99. A Friend.

There is a salve that you can buy at your feed warehouse, it is actually meant for horses, but works great on dogs to. I think it is call flyoff not sure because we used all ours up in the summer, but it also helps to heal the dogs ears and is alot cheaper than going to a vet. It is bright pink in color.Just ask the guy at the counter for a salve that will keep flies off of horses ears and he should be able to help...................Good Luck

sure you may take it to the vet so they are able to take care of it. it could get contaminated in case you dont. in case you're worried related to the wait, only confirm you hold it clean until then. you should use a small volume of hydrogen peroxide and neosporin on it until then. oftentimes, maximum vets use that besides to help clean the wound as long because it extremely is small. The vet may additionally supply you antibiotics for the dogs if the shrink seems contaminated. Please do circulate to the vet as quickly as you are able to nonetheless.

That happened all the time to our farm dog when I was growing up. The thing that worked best for us was to use the fly repelant cream for horses.

Veterinarians sell a cream that repels flies and helps the bites to heal. I have used this stuff on myself too, because it doesn't smell bad like the DEET repellants they sell for humans.
