I don't want the additional services and if it goes wrong or needs updates I can plug it in then. So why would they be so adament they have to have a phone line plugged in all the times to both boxes?
Are they keeping track of our viewing habits?
Anyone from sky willing to give the real reason?

Having recently applied and had an engineer around my house we ran in to a problem, how to get a phone line in to my other room. The problem being that theres no way of doing it without running a cable through most of the house.

I was reluctant to say the least and have, as yet, to get the work completed. But I asked.. do I really need to have them both plugged in? I don't do it with the single box why should I with the duel?

Well the reason is, according to the engineer; "People are taking their boxes and putting them in other houses or taking them abroad, this way Sky can monitor and make sure you aren't stealing their boxes".

Personally I felt this was a very likely reason.

That's the rules - your Sky box needs to be connected so that you are in a position to receive additional services should you want to. But by not having it connected, you are absolutely ruling out the possibility that you'll use these services, so Sky want their money up front.

What's the problem - just don't use the services you don't want.

I moved in the middle of a contract so an engineer came to put a SKY dish in he tried hanging out the window for a moments trying to drill holes in the ouside wall.Problem its the 7th floor did tell him there was a communal satelite on roof. Was then charged £55 for a 5 min job that I had to show him. Then year later tried to cancel sub. and was told they wanted it in writing.
Settled bill then had 2 debt collection agencies hassling me for the £43 I had paid 3 months earlier the Debt collection told me to get in contact with them with bank proof. To top it 3 months later get letter saying ex valued customer giving me half price mumbo jumbo. Also did u know u can carry the viewing card round to other peeps houses with SKY and share the cost lol

All Sky want is money, money, money. They are hoping that you will buy movies and extra services. I detest their attitude to their customers. One of the worst companies in this country. If they had been in the US they would have closed down 15 years ago.

It is part of the contract! After 18 months or something you can disconect and I agree updates completely bugger up pre-recordings.
