i find several men here saying that they dont care for looks and love someone for who they really are.but in reality men prefer slim,good looking ,fair women.am i right?

You are right up to some extent. In fact, the mating, from the evolution point of view, is the selection of a mate to enable the couple to produce the fittest possible offsprings.
Therefore, the male partner is supposed to be stronger and the female to be attractive. The nature has its own definition of 'attractive' and we human beings have, over the years, modified it. So, up to that extent, you are right that its by instinct that men are attracted to good looking females.
But the purpose of human life is just not give birth to fit offsprings. We have some other purposes to serve; number of relations to maintain; norms of the society to follow; old age problems; family issues; building a house; and so on so forth...
So, on that count it is more important that the male as well as the female has adequate level of wisdom, intelligence and other such traits. That is what men mostly refer to when they state that 'looks (only) do not matter...'.

Men usually prefer slim, good looking women because that is what society has taught them to like. However, there are many wonderful guys out there who do not conform to this norm and really do love for what is on the inside

OH yeah....you're right. Grant it I'm not a man and I might not should answer this question but as a person in general..... I think no matter what we are attracted to a person by they're looks first and then we really get to know them. Then again....maybe I'm just shallow but I really don't think I am. There are men out there that like women that aren't so slim too though so you never know, what might look good to one person might not look good to another and vice versa.

What do you mean fair? Fair skinned or treat you fair?? I am not a man but I am not slim...at all I am considered...thick...but I have never ever had trouble getting the attention of men...or women, I think its just what a guy prefers...you know? Not all men like slim not all men like thick not all men like fat.

It all depends really on the age of these men, I am not generalising just that some men get to the stage in their lives where they know that looks are'nt everything, some men before they mature would love to have a skinny great looking woman just to brag to their mates...

of course looks are very important, if there is no physical attraction then a relationship would never last, however it is not looks alone, i like a woman to be funny, friendly like a best mate with a great personality, i would much prefer a lady who was averagely attractive but with all these other attributes and luckily i do have this in my beautiful to me wife who is a great mother too.

not a man, but i think different men like different characteristics in women. not all like slim, good looking, fair! some like dark, blond, red, short, tall, fat, etc. some like big chests, small butts, or big butts, small chest, etc!!!
