Ok, think of a color wheel and which colors are opposite of each other. Such as yellow is opposite of purple and would cancel each other out if they were paint mixed in a single bucket. Coloring the hair works in much the same fashion. In your case the easiest on the hair would be some brand of purple based shampoo such as "Shimmering Lights" by Clairol. A purple shampoo such as that is specifically designed to tone out brassiness. You use it only until you notice the brassiness has left your hair then quit and return to your normal shampoo, otherwise the hair will take on too much of the purple tone and you will begin to see the hair almost look grey and dull. (Remember! purple cancels yellow on the color wheel) Unfortunately, brassy tends to be more towards an orange color, but good luck finding a blue based shampoo. I only know of one brand like that and It's no longer on the market. However, I've had much success with the purple shampoo and it's far less costly and damaging as a permanent or semi-permanent chemical color. (Beware! some unscrupulous stylists are only in it for the money and will try and convince you you need this unnecessary and expensive solution)

What was your original color to start with? I used this platnium blonde hair coloring from Clariol, called Born Blonde. It left my hair really soft and completely one soild color. When you put it on though it will go through many different colors, but if you wait it will be the perfect match ;)
Hope this helped
