I'm not sure about this, but I bought some cinnamon scented pinecones from Wal-mart. Well I was wondering if I would be able to place them in a jar with some oranges-fresh ones, to make a pretty centerpiece?? Would it hurt the oranges, like make them rot? Or would it not make any differene at all????

Yes...you could certainly do that...however, understand that you will have to replace the oranges periodically as they will spoil. The other thing that you could do is take some of the orange peel off with a vegetable peeler, let it dry and put the large curls of orange in with the pinecones....you will then smell the oranges more and not have to worry about rot....nice idea....You could also put the pinecones in a large glass bowl with some christmas ball ornaments for the holidays or some fresh greens....have fun

Oranges and pinecones will work for a couple of days, but if the oranges go bad then you won't be able to save the scented cones, the will grow mold. You could try using Christmas ornaments with the cones. I put mine in a basket with a 35light strand of Christmas lights under them and use colorful ornaments and the little heat from the lights help bring out the scent of the cones. You can save the cones and replenish the scent for next season by placing in a plastic bag and storing. I've used mine for years.

As long as the pinecones dont puncture your oranges they should be ok. Eventually your oranges are going to go bad on their own. So it would be a short term decoration.

small word of caution.
many people are sensitive to those pine cones has they have a high concentration of cinnamon and clove. this can lead to swelling of the facial area and breathing passages.
