Yes it really does depends on where you are located, or if you are able to move to attend school. Embry-Riddle has two campuses one in Florida and the other is in Arizona. There are also a lot of great smaller schools that offer aviation programs like Daniel Webster College, NH and Bridgewater State College in MA.

I would suggest you carefully research any school you plan to attend. I found that the first flight school I went to was ill fitting for my personality. (I am kind of anti-authority)

I later found a school that was a much better fit for me and found the experience much better.

It also depends on the type of training you want. Do you want to go all the way? (IE become an airline transport pilot?) or do you just want to get your private pilots liscence? if you just want to become a private pilot I would suggest just going to your local airport and hooking up with your friendly neighborhood flight instructor.
