My 8 month son is under weight. His doctor said that this is due to his less intake of protein. Please advise what food I can give him to give enough protein. also Since I feel that my brest milk is getting less do i need to give him additional milk at night. He does not take the bottle but I feel that he is not getting enough milk.

Whole milk would be good.

Could also try supplimenting with fortified cerials.

If he is having troubles with a bottle, try those nipples that simulate real nipples...make sure the milk is warm, etc.

Surprised your doctor did not have suggestions, you may want to ask them as well.

the pediatrician should have told you what to feed him. You can give him soup of pink lentils, i would say don't give egg whites till he is 1 year old, it may cause allergy. You can find a lot of other things given to such a small baby in shops. You should have started weaning him by 4 months, do you still rely on breast milk only??? no problem, it's not that late, start giving him pureed fruits like banana and apples, he might take just 2-3 spoons in the begining, give him purees of lentils, beans.....but keep the consistency watery.

You could try Beans make them anyway but small enough for a 8month old to eat and lots of fruit and Veg's! if already eating food, before buying the food check the labels for the highest protien.

egg white is pure protein, seperate lots of egg whites and include that in any milk you give your son. Your pediatrician should be able to advise you better.
