I am being courted by a person who was once married and had his marriage annulled. He had had several relationships after that and now he is 45 years old. I am not sure how serious he could get but for me, at this age of mine, if he is the one and is serious enough, i believe I am ready for him. But then I want to know if he is really serious about this. How would I know if he is really in love with me while professing his love thru emails, text messages, and some usual chats.

In my case, women will never know my love for them, unless they get over their fear and take the chance that been offered to them. That is the only true way for either man or woman.

I know my husband really loves me by his actions more than his words - the way he is always there to lend an ear and be my sounding board, never saying I told you so when I'm wrong, celebrating life's victories with me and being strong enough to stand back and let me pass or fail on my own but being willing to pick me up when I do fail - to me that is more convincing than words could ever be.

At that age, he obviously would be very experienced in courting women. Keep in mind that words mean nothing if there's no action. You should be able to tell by the way he treats you. If he says one thing and doesnt do it, then he's probably all talk.
You could also hint, long-term relationship/marriage to him to see his reactions.
good luck!

you make it sound as though this is all like an internet love. i think first i'd proceed with meeting him if that is the case. other than that, i'm a believer in "actions speak louder than words" so no matter how much someone says they love me it's proven in the random kisses, or holding my hand, or making me feel safe etc.

PRENUPTUAL:
If he loves you as much as he say's he does, fake him with a prenup.
If he excepts it then "YOUR A WINNER", if he doesn't. "KICK HIS *** TO THE CURB"
