I sometimes feel itchy under my skin, like my muscles are feeling itchy, not my skin. This usually happens at my knees. Don't suggest that it's an infection or anything, because it's not; it happens at other places as well... Anyone ever felt this way? What could cause it...?

Hmmm... Interesting, interesting... I agree with what minuteblue said, I've always thought it was a "redirected sensation", you know, like the nerves go haywire for a bit, and say "this place is itchy" when it's somewhere else that is... Also, I'm a guy, and the itchiness only lasts a couple of seconds (10 or so).

This could be a re-directed sensation. Next time it happens try scratching other places around your body and see if you find the place that's actually itching.

I sometimes experience an itch on the bottoms of my feet that is absolutely MADDENING. It is NOT the surface of my skin, but underneath. I don't know the cause of it; it usually lasts about 30 minutes...the only thing that will alleviate the torture is to put a bottle cap over the afflicted area, inside my shoe, and walk around...
