So - I'm not positive why people think they'll go to heaven just because they believe in God. But maybe they just have faith that since they get up everyday and face the day feeling grateful - and they go out and do their best to be kind to everyone - and work hard - and shine their love on everybody - that they can't imagine God punishing them for anything. They feel God working through them - and they know that God loves them. Probably the furthest thing from their minds is that they are going to burn in hell for eternity because they didn't accept what the Christians said they should do. They probably LIKE the Christians - even LOVE them - because Christians are just another group of people using their religion as a fabulous tool to be closer to God. But maybe FEAR is not how some people choose to be close to God. Maybe they just feel it's LOVE flowing through them - and they bask in it - and don't run around trying to scare others into believing.
I think that's why they believe they'll go to heaven.

As Jesus said "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment" (Mark 12:30) Jesus also told us "If you love, me keep my commandments" (John 14:15) If a person has no repentance in their life & does not follow God's word they are deceived, all they will hear at jugement day is "And I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity" (Matthew 7:23). These type of people remind me of the parable of "The two foundations" (Matthew 7:24-27) But to have enternal life one must believe "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born , not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God" (John 1:13-13)

I, for one, believe in God, BUT of course that's not nearly enough. Practice of the Golden Rule and the 10 Commandments must be part of your daily agenda

It's not believing in the existence of God that will get you into Heaven. You must believe in the atoning sacrifice of Christ on the Cross for our sins. He shed His blood so we might live. The demons believe in the existence of God, they don't believe in the cleansing blood of Christ.

People are not being told the truth from the Bible. If all good people go to heaven, how will the meek inherit the earth? How will God's will be done on earth as it is in heaven if everyone is in heaven?

as the basic tenets of all religion are dogmatic and a rationalist answer can not be given by a believer.if they don't have faith in the belief that they would go to heaven, they would not have believed in the existence of god. major religions don't say that mere belief in god guarantees entrance to heaven. they say only by doing good deeds one can go to heaven.

Who knows why some people think the way they do. That is not scriptural. These people are evidently not in tune with the Bible. May God Bless

"For if you confess Jesus as Lord, and believe IN YOUR HEART that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a man believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth confession is made, resulting in salvation" (Roman 10:9,10)
Why don't you believe God?

it is a myth promoted by TV and the media, and people telling other people that you go to heaven if you are "good".
