I've heard a few girls say they do and I was just wondering if that is common and why some girls feel the need to seem less intelligent than they really are. Personally, I kind of have a thing for brainy girls and really like it when they can match wits with me and surprise me with the content of their minds.

Goodness no. I think that sometimes men DON'T WANT women to be as smart as they are - but I'm not going to act stupid for anybody. I WILL acknowledge when my man does or says something smart - but I won't pretend to be less intelligent than I am. That would be too hard.

Good for you.
Many of my friends say that guys are perhaps intimidated by me because I am intelligent and have a graduate degree, etc. My feeling on that is that I am sorry, because I don't think that it makes me better than other people, but I also wouldn't want a guy that was intimidated by me. I'd definitely want to marry a man who would like an intelligent wife, and I feel bad for guys who don't want one. I suppose if girls "dumb down" they are responding to their perception that guys don't want intelligent women, and are therefore trying to make themselves more desirable.

When I'm out with people, I don't want to show off my intelligence by bragging or sharing irrelevant information. But if someone asks me a question, I'll answer it. I hope that's not what you're referring to as "dumbing down".

The last guy I was with...told me I was too smart for him...yeah right...He was more intelligent then he gave himself credit for. But intelligence and maturity are two different things. It's kind of like intelligence or common sense. Did I dumb myself down...No but I did throw myself at him...damn it...so this is where wisdom comes in...(smile)

If I do it's not intentional. Actually I think I act smarter but I do get alot more nervous which makes me act clumsier. I really have a thing for nerds so I need to be able to have intelligent conversations.

Good for you! Have you ever wondered how you would get on with a girl who was a lot smarter than you? Most guys find it a little disconcerting.

I would never dumb myself down for any guy.The only thing I'd do different is I might keep most of my thoughts from him.

I never have. Someone has actually complained that I was 'intense' and 'scary' when I was just being my usual, compentent self. (I was defending my younger sister from him hitting on her, the jerk.)
