She is 9 weeks and the best pet Ive ever had and Im not even a "cat-person". But yesterday she swallowed my fiances Pearl Earring and I dont know what to do. Shes eating and drinking fine. She doesnt seem to be acting any different than usual. Still a hyper hungry kitty! Shes pooped twice scince yesterday and the earing is very expencive given to her by her grandmother so ive been lookin for it obviously, but still no sign of it. anyone have any idea how long I should give it before i start to worry! And like Ive said shes acting 100% normal. Any help would be useful. THANK YOU!

you could take her to a vet to see where it is inside the kitty but a couple days should do it.. she might digest the earing... pearls are only calcium deposites in clams.... or oysters whichever.... idk you could call a vet and see

I work at a pediatric hospital and deal with kids swallowing things all the time. Earrings are not easy on the digestive tract, espically if they are studded. These can easily tear the intestinal lining. If she were my kitten, I'd get her to a vet tomorrow morning for an x-ray (to confirm that she swallowed the earring). Your vet can help you make decisions after that.

At least the earring shouldn't hurt her.... my mom used to let one of her cats chew on a diamond in her engagement ring, and you can probably guess what happened one day. Boy, was Daddy ever upset! At least the finally pooped the thing out, though.

Keep checking the stool, and be especially careful to look for the post. The pearl might very likely have dissolved...I dunno. My suggestion would be to ask people on the science boards if pearls are likely to be dissolved in stomach acid. I think they are, but I could be wrong.

If you find the post without the pearl attached, you're very likely screwed.

I don't know how long you should wait, but it would be a good idea to take the cat to the vet. Earrings have sharp parts that might hurt the cat's insides.

Hi Tom...consider ringing the vet first thing tomorrow and ask them if you can arrange to bring the kitten in. Kitten's digestive system is very sensitive as well as very small. The earring's post can puncture the bowels so it can harm the kitten quite easily.

take kitty to the vet. this earring could cause major problems, Please take him, even if its just to get him checked out over this, the most a check up at the vets going to cost you is prolly around 40 bucks.. And some vets are even cheaper then that.. Don't risk your cats health, take him to the vet..

Whether the item is expensive or not- any object your kitten has swallowed should be removed by your vet, please call them ASAP. She is acting OK for now but it is not good for her & must be removed! Good luck.
