Most drugs will cause some sort of GI upset. Most medical professionals will encourage drinking plenty of fluids, adding more fiber to your diet, and exercising. This will get things moving again. Check the website below. It will answer your question about Serotonin in the gut.

Not drinking enough water, not eating fruits and vegetables, and not getting enough exercise can all lead to constipation...being on drugs that dry you out can make it worse(and you are on those drugs)...The water is especially important because you need that to get the whole process moving along(if you get the picture) 8- 8 oz glasses a day of h2o not soda(or diet) or coffee or tea or beer or--you get the idea..you can take colase it is cheap and available everywhere. It is a stool softner not a laxative.

I agree with Mod M. A stool softener is probably more effective than a laxative. You have to be careful with laxatives if you them for any length of time.
It sucks, eh? Gone are the days with the daily morning trip to the can with the newspaper. Weight builds up for a few days and then ... I think you get the idea.

Many anti-depressants cause constipation. Try taking Citrusel or metamusil. Also adding more fiber in you diet can help. Laxatives are easy to abuse and can lead to dependence
