By this I especially mean people who were former christians and have strayed, does this attracted demons to control your life?

I am speaking of a situation where a personality has shown to be dramatically changed, swearing, being horrible to other people, lies and deceit, greed, and sexual issues, are traits that this person wouldn't normally show but it seems to be getting more intense.
For instance, when drunk, she told her friends that she secretly hated them and made up a heap of lies about who was sleeping with whom. It was destructive and hurt an awful lot of people. Complete and utter lies, and impossible to know where it came from, as when she is sober none of these thoughts even enter her head.

This person isn't an alcoholic, and also she has strayed from being a saved Christian and doesn't follow christian beliefs anymore.

Yes, demons do control former believers. Check this passage out: Matt. 12:43-45

vs.43 "When the unclean spirit is gone of a man, he walks thru dry places, seeking rest and find none.

vs. 44 "Then he said, I will return into my house from where I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept and garnished.

vs. 45 "Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

My friend, I am sure you will get a lot of no it can not happen, but we need to look at a few things.

I firmly believe that when we place our trust in Christ (see first link below) then we will be given eternal life. How long is eternal? Until we sin again? (see 2nd link)

Some say demons could not be in one that has Christ within but are we not told that our bodies are the LORD's temple? If so, are we not in three parts? The Holy of Holy (where GOD resides in us), the inner court and the outer court. With the earthly temple, gentiles could go into the outer court.

I believe this is where demons can enter a real Christian, but it would be one that has opened gateways for them to do so.

1 Corinthians 5:5

To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Some of the gateways are drug use, the occult, willful disobedience to GOD, We are told that we will reap what we sow. Even as Christians this still applies and if we get too nosy in looking into the occult for the wrong reasons, we are on dangerous ground.

well, if you are saved for real, I don't think that demons can get in you.. but of course if you really stray away a lot, that means the evil spirits get more control on what one does and acts. Just because she did all that it does not necessarily mean that she has an evil spirit inside her. It is just that she has let herself so much off God that she is an easy prey for the Devil and you know how much the devil would love to bash and shame a child of God. And another more important thing is whether she was saved already. That is also one thing which you have to look into if a person you believed was saved falls into so much sin. Be sure to pray hard for her and make your friends pray as well and believe that God will bring her back.. easy to say I know.. but Let God's grace lead you.

Okay there are 2 parts to this answer

1) Yes. Demons are possess you even when you are Christian. Please read "Evidence of Satan in the Modern World (Paperback)
by Leon Cristiani ". Awfully frightening book, but informative never the less.

2) Your friend is just going through changes by being influenced by the secular world. Nothing to do with demons and possession and stuff like that. More to do with being a downright ******. It's easy to hide your true intentions when you are sober.Much harder to do so when you are drunk. Of course, if you want to give here the benefit of doubt, she could have been just talking plain rubbish to get attention.

Yes, you sure can. The Bible states that when a demon goes out of a man/woman(when they get saved), it goes thru dry places trying to find a place to rest and when it cannont find one it says the it will return to place where they once were(in the person before they were saved)and find peace and it does. So it gets with 7 more demons more stronger than it is and returns. So that the end of that man/woman(after the demons return) is worst than it was in the beginning. May God Bless

Many believe that a person who has TRULY became a Christian then can not be demon-possessed ... for neither angels nor principalities nor powers nor things in heaven nor things on earth, nor things under the earth nor any other thing can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ.

Even if that is so, it seems that many Christians can be demon-oppressed.

The person you mentioned; perhaps she seemed to be a Christian and then left herself open to possession; or if a Christian then she has been leaving herself open to intense demon oppression ... maybe dabbling in the occult, fornication, drinking (and getting drunk). Maybe it is demon oppression, or maybe it is just demon drink ... why is it called "spirits"?

I do not believe that demons can enter you UNLESS you allow it. However I do believe that demons does not want you be good Christian and will try to pull you down into doing something bad, things are against God's Law. Don't worry, just stay strong with faith and prayer and you will embrace by God's love and protection.

A back slided Christian can be obsessed but not possessed by demons. According to Gal 2:20 Christ lives in the believer. Christ and satan cannot abide in the same house.

I can understand your trying to figure out what has gone wrong with your friend. Judas walked with the Lord and then betrayed him. His life ended in suicide. Peter betrayed the Lord but later repented and went on to be one of the top Apostles. The following verses in the Book of Jude may be helpful in knowing what to do:

21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

"Building," "praying" and "waiting" are all participles which modify the main verb "keep." It seems best to take the first two as means and the last one as attendant circumstance. In other words, we are to keep ourselves in the love of God by "building" and "praying" while at the same time we are "waiting anxiously."

22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting;

23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

Jude gives three different ways we are to treat those who go astray. 1. Show some of them mercy; 2. Some must be snatched out of the fire; 3. Still others need a combination of mercy and fear. (The King James, following the Majority Text has a little different reading here)

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,

I quote this verse to God when I am struggling. His word says he is able to keep us from falling (KJV).

25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
