I told my dog that I'd take him on a walk and I never did. He's just been looking at me like he is upset all day now! I gave him a treat but he is still angry. What should I say to him? How can I get him to forgive me?

Take him for a long walk and then surprise him with his favorite meal, a movie, and some pampering at a doggy spa. Or, just go to bed he will forget about it tomorrow.

Interesting question. I think it's worse lying to a dog, somehow. They're pretty innocent creatures and lying must really seem alien to them. No wonder he's freaked out. The good news is that a dog will love you no matter what, and I think by the next walk you'll have it all straightened out with him.

Well, dogs are not the same as human beings because a dog is not made in Gods image, but a human being is. Dogs may have feelings but that is porpotted by the training of the owner.
If your dog is used to being taken out on a walk, he deserves it because he is used to it, but asuming that to be angry at you and for that reason behave like me (man) because you failed on your promise is improper.
Next time I will expect you to tell us that your dog refused to sleep because you could not take it to toilet. Haa!! be reasonable.

Looking at that situation you did not only lie to your dog but also your father. What can the dog do?J just bark at you and look for sympathy. But you are feeling bad you did that, you had realise cheating is not a good thing to be done.

if he is well trained and knows what that means and really enjoys walks i think he might be mad,
dogs are smart. I just got a puppy and trying to train her. very frustrating. but maybe you should just talk to him I know it sounds crazy but I think they may understand us more than we know!
I could tell my dog was mad at me today cause of what happend last night, she is still potty training and she peed on our comforter last night. she usually sleeps with us but we told her she had to sleep in her bed in the living room.
she kept looking at me weird today, but I just played with her and gave her a rub. she seems fine but it is hard because I have to keep disaplining her for other things. which makes her mad. she will get over it and she knows I love her.
I understand just take him on that walk tommorow if you can. tell him you couldnt do it and that you will take him then!

It's an interesting question. Is a lie still a lie no matter to whom (or what) it is told? After all, you are the one who lies, not the receiver, hence you should perhaps examine your own motives for lying.

sweetie take him for a fun outing take his favorite toy with you walk him around and then play trust me i have 3 dogs myself

Animals specially dogs may not talk but they're intellectual level is high , there more sensitive than humans they cannot speak but they understand every word that we say , so, don't be surprised!
