My dog is basically a good dog. BUT, we currently have a 8 month old that is crawling around. He loves Gizzy however Gizzy trys to detour around him but sometimes Austin grabs hair or something. Gizzy bit him one time on forehead. We are scared he will hurt the baby. We tried to give him to a good home but he got very angry with new owners growling and biting we had to go get him. HE hasn't acted up sense he has been home. But does anyone have any suggestions on what we might do to prevent him from hurting baby. When Gizzy bites he is strong and it hurts. He isn't neutured and was wondering if this might help.

My vet says you can neuter a dog at any age (older then 6 months though). It could prevent the agressive behavior your dog has, and it sounds like he's having dominance issues and might be trying to put your son in order within the pack.

If you love your dog and are really concerned you can contact a local trainer to come in and put your dog in pack place (behind your son; your son comes first). Failing that, I wouldn't leave the two alone together or in easy contact.

Good luck!

Sometimes neutering can help a lot, although I wouldn't rely on that as your only solution. You will need to make sure the baby is not near the dog until you get this under control. Sounds like you need some in-house behavioral training for your dog. Good luck!

The trainer at Petsmart told me to purchase Bitter Apple spray and whenever they bite to spray it in their mouth (be careful not to get eyes). This way they associate biting with an awful taste. I only had to do it twice. Now when she starts to get hyper and ready to bite all I have to do is pull out the bottle and she stops immediatly - no need to spray.
