Hmmm, actually most of the churches here in Singapore have both open rooms and booths as well. I think the booths are for the more "conservative" members of the congregation. I know for a fact that the priests know me when I go for confession. Haha...

Yes, only Roman Catholics believe in confession through confession boothes. Other Christian religions believe in talking directly to God instead of asking a priest for forgiveness or pentance.

Many churches still have them but not all churches use them. Many now have a "reconciliation room" where penitents have the option of kneeling behind a screen, or sitting face to face with the priest.
