Seriously, the questions are stupid.

First, I would like to point out to the ignorant people who ignored the basis of my question -- that I am not ranting about people asking basic questions about health, I am sure I've done it myself once or twice. Its the people who post saying "Blood is pouring from...." or "My bone is sticking out of...." or "I have serious chest pains...." Etc.
It is common intelligence that if you are in THAT much trouble, you don't sit on Yahoo Answers looking for an answer.

Also, I agree with everyones comments about the cost of doctors, and other peoples experience -- just in reasonable cases, such as bruises, mild aches, pains, skin problems, etc.

Some people don't realize how serious some of their medical problems are and need the boot in the behind to get them to go to the doctors. Others merely want someone who is a nurse or medical professional to help them decide if they need to see a doc at midnight for their problem or if it is ok to wait till morning. Not all of the people on yahoo are plain people. Some of us are nurses or other medical professionals who can help people with things that don't require a docs visit or can help them make a better decision as to whether something requires immediate attention or if it can wait till morning. Also I was always taught there is no such thing as a stupid question............only stupid answers.

Some people make the appointment, and cant get into the doctor for a couple days and its not that serious that justifies a trip to the ER and naturally people are worried about what is wrong with them and they simply want to see if anyone has experienced what they have while they are waiting to see the doctor. Why doyou have to be so mean? If you think the questions people ask are so stupid then why read them? I hope you never need advice for something that is going on with your body...we will tell you to grow up and go to the freakin doctor.

I see multiple reasons for it, and a few of them are:

• Obtaining second opinions
• Comparing notes
• Gaining insight
• Can enquire about seemingly stupid problems (which actually are not so in most of the cases), which you fear asking your own doctor
• Looking for options
• Obviously for getting timely and free information from health professionals who do not have any ulterior motive
• What may seem so complicated, may well have an answer and a remedy

because the advice here doesn't require they not eat that week. most physicians charge a week's worth of groceries for an office visit. that's not including prescriptions. their questions aren't stupid. it's pitiful that in this country so many people can't get the heath care they need and deserve.

Some people are afraid to see the doctor. They probably figure here is better than the doc's office.

yahoo is fun, the dr is not. also we are lazy and scared to go to the dr. I am sure some people just make up questions to see what kind of answers they will get.

no insurance? they don't want to embarrass themselves if nothings wrong? They already know what wrong but want more information about it? Some of the questions though, are clearly written to gross people out.
