I don't want to offend anyone but I was wondering....I'm not real clear on the religion stuff and god. My friend, (who is veryyy religious) and I were talking and I asked her in the bible it say's every1 has a designated time that they will die. No matter what u do when ur time is up, it's up. Ok, what I don't get is, if every1 has a certain time and nothing will change that, then why can't I let my kids run down the highway! If it's not their designated time, Nothing should happen to them right?? Don't mean this to be nasty, I'm just trying to undersatnd.

that is actually a very good observation on your part if in doubt reserch it and find out! the reason you don't want to let your kids go play on the highway is because you are rightit is not true and does not work that way, you certainly can change the time of your death to nonexisting even (Revelation21:4, 5) says that God will swallow up death and there will not be any pain, sorrow, or death ,anymore, if it were true that that everyone has a designated time and no matter what, their time is up then there is no way of avoiding it then there would be no way to save oneselfat all then why would Godpromise and teach people how to do just that, avoid it? No we were not made to die, we were created to live and it's the reason why scientists cannot work out why we grow old and die, but the answer is in the Bible but the Bible disagrees with your friend saying that it says that in the Bible, it does not, say that at all!

does everyone have a predetermined time to die?
this belief was common among the greeks and romans.ecclesiastes3;1&2 speaks of a time to die. but showing that this is not predermined fixed moment for the indiviual ecc7:17counsels :do not be wicked overmuch, nor become foolish.why should u die when its not ur time?proverbs10:27says;the years of the wicked ones will be cut short.andpsalm55.23adds:as for bloodguilty&deceitful men they will not live out half there days. what then does ecc3:1&2 mean?it is simply disscussing the continuous cycle of life and death in this imferfect system of things. there is a time when people r born and a time when they die-usu at not more than 70 or 80 years of age, but sometimes sooner and sometimes later.if u are interested in free home bible study.please contact our official website www.watchtower.org .

The scripture says that it is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment. That is not saying that you have a 'designated' time to die. No one knows beforehand when we are to die by God. By that scripture it means that everyone lives and everyone dies. The Bible also says that we are not to test God either. That is why you don't you don't let your kids run down the highway or test God in any other manner either. It may not kill them but you wouldn't want them maimed would you? After all, they would not be dead. May God Bless

Think of it this way. God has given you a few cards in this card game called Life. You have no control over what cards you get. Some people get good ones, some people get sucky ones. Its not up to you. But it is up to you what you do with them. You could do somethign really stupid, like let them run down the highway. Or you could be smart and wait to play your cards at the right moment so that you'll get the best possible results. You play your cards however you think is best, but sometimes your best isn't good enough. You still lose. But you tried your best. Get it?

Life is a game of cards. You don't always like what you get, but even someone with the worst hand can win with the right amount of luck, faith, and skill.

There are two sides: one side is peoples' beliefs, as the one you ask about; the other is practicality. Faith only goes so far in physical terms. For example, I believe Jesus was speaking literally when he said we could stand before a mountain, tell it to move, and it will move; even though I know that's true, I still don't believe I can do it, therefore it would not work. That is the dichotomy (split) between faith and practicality. It all centers around belief.

Well, according to Islam, the above belief is true (pre-destined fate) but you also have a level of free-will. You can't just let things "be" and expect nothing to happen. You have a level of responsibility over your life and choices and you should make them. Eventually, the ultimate destiny will be met but the choices along the way are up to you. I remember also learning this stuff in Grade Nine English when we explored Mythology.

So drawing lots or playing Russian Roulette are not actually 'choices' made by humans.

The 'religion' that your "friend" has is called "control" and " group manipulation". It is practiced predominately by males who advocate "their way" as the 'ONLY' solution or path to a goal.

Sounds great, except for the lack of planning that usually ends up with them convicted of some crime. Con artists use the same techniques. Funny coincidence, that.

As Roman Catholics we believe in mysteries. Like when Jesus comes for the second coming and all of us go to heaven for eternity how long is it really for since eternity is forever shouldn't it have to end sometime??? Just like that your time of death is a mystery, bc we believe that u can make ur own decisions and free will but we also believe that God has a plan for us..its a mystery.

.God, being omniscient, knows the end from the beginning. He knows when each of us will die, and how. That being said, we don't have the right to let our children be put into a state of danger. If you allow your children to run down the street, and they get killed, doesn't alleviate you of any responsibility. It's just that God knew what would have happened to them before it happened. There's a difference between predestination and pre-knowledge.

if they get hit maybe it was there time. No way to prove either. However I think the part in the bible is simply saying yes we all will have our time of death not like Jousie-Lou will die on MArch 3 2098 and thats that.
