I would like to hear from people who find that keeping their faith (particularly being a strong Catholic) is much harder as they get older? hearing other people laugh and shrug off telling me things like..."Why do you even feel guilty what some man wrote 2000 years ago and let that control your life? "God loves you and made you why would he send you to hell?" and also hearing the many exploits of others that I have not yet embarked on and hopefully will not and they appear more happy/successful and without any shame it makes me I hate to say sometimes jealous and doubt my faith because they seem to be enjoying life more carefree and without worry or fear of any punishment from God even though they believe in him while I have much fear of the Lord because of my sins. I am not saying I am by any means more innocent but are these people more in Gods favor because they dont feel ashamed of it seems anything they do?

My faith grow's stronger as I grow closer to God. I don't think age is a factor. We live in an evil world. If we don't stay very close to the creator we will get sucked in by false idea's and doctrine's. As for the people having it better that live evil live's. The bible tells us that sin is fun for a season. They may be living it up now but ultimately they will have death as a reward. We on the other hand have a promise of eternal life and happiness. Our time here on earth is only the blink of an eye compared to forever. They may be better off financially, etc. But nothing compare's to the peace in our mind's and heart's from having a close relationship with God. They have 80 to 100 year's at the very most to enjoy all their sins. We have life everlasting in complete bliss when this life is over. " I go to prepare a mansion for you, if it were not true I would have told you so". These are the word's of our savior to all christian's. If you are close to him ? You know this is the truth in your heart no matter what people say. Hang in there sweetie. Pray for God to strengthen your faith. Protect yourself and avoid thing's that make you ? God. The devil is real and he's clever. God Bless You. I will pray for God to renew your faith in Him.

Faith is a lifelong struggle. It becomes easier as you allow the spirit of Christ to rule your life. Do not despair! You are not living for the here and now. If you have accepted Christ as your savior, your your name is written in the book of life for eternity. Remember, heaven isn't just an eternal church service. You will have a new body that is free from sin and you will live in a glorious place that the Lord has prepared for you. You will meet your ancestors. You will spend eternity gladly serving the Lord ( you'll have a job, sorry). You will attend parties and feasts. The wonders are just too great to explain. However, the nonbelievers that we live with here who always have more of everything (fun money etc) will spend eternity weeping and agonizing. Live your life as true to your faith as possible. Remember, you will never be sinless. You can only try to sin LESS. Grace gets you into heaven. I believe faith earns you a higher place there.

faith at first will get harder when u transition from childhood to adulthood and in most cases people lose faith but in time if wisdom will allow faith will become easyer when u know ur self and then know those around u.
when fearing ur sins shows u have guilt torwards it and yern for forgiveness. in turn meaning u know right and wrong. a wise person would learn from this and change accoringly. if some one is not ashamed that they did some thing wrong how can they be forgiven.
also id like to add that being positive and spiritual through the worst of things is a strangth of worth

Let me ask you this is it wrong to ask God why he allows suffering? Some worry that asking such a question means that they do not have enough faith or that they are showing disrespect for God. That is not true, We can ask God. In fact the prophet Habakkuk asked God: “Why is it that you make me see what is hurtful, and you keep looking upon mere trouble? And why are despoiling and violence in front of me, and why does quarreling occur, and why is strife carried?  Therefore law grows numb, and justice never goes forth. Because the wicked one is surrounding the righteous one, for that reason justice goes forth crooked. Habakkuk 1:2 - 4. One important thing to keep in mind is that the Bible itself tells us “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) And that Satan is down here on Earth, Revelation 12:9, and he is the reason things are this way. Satan is hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So the world, under his influence, is full of hatred, deceit, and cruelty. That is why there is so much suffering. The Bible does give us hope, Revelation 12:12 Tells us the Devil has a short time. God has a very good reason for not interfering in things today and the Bible tells us why. So don't stop reading it, or asking God why.

Dude why are you living in fear and in shame. As Christians we are the only free people alive today. People that are not Christian are living empty, meaningless lives, they have no hope. But for us, we have a future, we have a Job to do while we are on earth. The only thing you are missing out on, is that non Christians live like animals. They screw whoever they want, even if they don't love the person, they destroy their body's. What are you really missing. And who told you that being a Christian is going to be a fun thing. Just stand up for your faith, forget about life without Jesus, because really that life leads to death. And go to a baptist church

it gets easier to keep your faith when you get older, if you pursue God. If you let your faith get week it will die.

Yes, Faith is harder to keep as you get older. You have more time to think.

As far as who is in God's favor more, that's for God to decide.

The Constitution of the United states of America was written over 200 years ago. Does that make it any less valid? Can we verify it's content with any of the origional authors? Of course not. we just have to take it on faith that it is what it is.

As far as the hell thing, God does not " send " anyone to hell. We choose to go. Hell, litterally, is a place with out the presence of God. Now we can either choose to God to heaven, by following his law. Or we can choose to go to hell by abandoning his law. It's that simple. Same things your parents tell you. " While you're under my roof, you'll live by my rules."

Don't mistake " Wealth" for ' Favor. I can steal ( hypothetically ) a million dollars from some one. Would I be wealthy? Yes. Would I be in God's favor? Doubtful. sure, if they choose to live in the moment they'll have all sorts of fun. But, are you going to steal a car and joy ride for a few hours, only to spend a month in prison? ( as an example ) That's up to you.

There's a lot of things that happend in this universe that God didn't make happen. But he did prepare for them. Hold on to your faith, be true to your self. Do what you know is right. And everything will end up fine.

Hold fast to the treasure that has been given to you.Acquisition of material goods was never the purpose of your Catholic faith.God sends no one to hell (CCC1037).Jesus says to lay up your treasures in heaven(Mt6,19-21)and depend on God(Mt6,25-33).A wonderful source of Catholic teaching is the New American Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.See the website below for many questions you may have about the Catholic faith..

I find it's easier as I get older. It's true, you don't worry about "things" as much because you realize that material things aren't so important, the emotional ones are. You wake up and realize, "I'm going to start being thankful for what I have, not unhappy with what I haven't got." You appreciate God's gifts more which draws you closer to him. And sometimes then you get the things you've always wanted and then it's more valuable. Good luck in your spiritual growth. I'll say a prayer for you.

I'm 51 and everyday my faith gets stronger and stronger! I've gone thru what you are going thru but I was finally set free and I pray you will be too. You are beating yourself up for your human nature. None of us are sin free but when we do sin we ask God to forgive us and He's more than willing to. Read the story about the Prodical son, thats Gods reaction to us when we wander from Him. Please, God wants a relationship with you don't let your fear get in the way.
