that is hoping for to much, my man is deploying in march, and 3 other neighbors in may 2007 all in different units. this wont happen until a vote is cast on a specific date etc... however how about pray for the safety of our troops more? that is always appreciated, even by the people who dont believe in God. (sorry)

I wouldn't expect to see any significant troop reduction for years to come. Lets be honest with ourselves and look at past events elsewhere. We went into Bosnia and Kosovo to try and prevent genocide there as well. Things weren't nearly as bad there, yet we were involved there for the better part of 10 years before we made a significant withdrawal. Things over here are bad, but if we pull out too quick, there will be a massive slaughter of Iraqis, (Sunni and Shia) as both sides will be unrestrained. Soon thereafter I would predict that Iran would either move in, or would at least dominate Iraq as a puppet further destabilizing the region. Too many people are quick to demand that we get out now. I will agree that we should not have gone in, however, the deed is done, and we cannot leave Iraq in the current condition. I hope that someone comes up with a good solution soon, but I am not very optimistic. Those chanting "get out now" really should do some independent research, and not just listen to Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan.

I am not betting on Christmas - but I have confidence we will be coming home sooner than later. I was there last year for a deployment, and I can tell you first hand the longer we keep troops on the ground the worse it will get. Hopefully our newly elected officials will see through this mess and do the right thing.

I would hope to see significant withdrawals by the end of 2007, and the early stages of pull out by early 2008. One thing for sure; I wouldn't want to be there when we begin reducing numbers - especially the final withdrawal.

Pulling out will leave the Iran backed Shiites killing the Sunni's then the Kurds? Wouldn't that make you feel safer? Iran contolling Iraq!

That would be a Blessing that only prayers can bring. Get started and pass the word.

No, I don't think that's going to happen. Pulling out now will only lead to chaos. But that is what the insurgents are hoping for.
