Baka. That's how you write the Japanese word for "dummy" in English letters.

To me, "baka" is the word for "grandmother", in Serbian language... I don't know if the word appears in other languages. Someone said something about Japanese, maybe it's correct.

I'm so sorry someone called you that!
Basically, it's an insult.
Just ignore them.
Read about it hereï½
"In Japanese, the word ã°ã baka means "idiot", "moron", "fool" or "dimwit". It can also refer to the condition of being stupid. The word is widely used in conversation and, while derogatory, is not taboo. It is commonly used in Tokyo and other parts of eastern Japan while in Osaka and elsewhere in Japan, aho can be the usual preferred equivalent.
When used as an adjective in Japanese, baka (na) can mean "absurd" or "crazy" in addition to "idiotic." The adverb form baka ni can mean "extremely" and baka ni dekai "extremely large"...."

I live in Japan and hear 'baka!' used from time to time.
Hope this helps!(*^o^*)

Sorry, you're all wrong, it is COW in Filipino (Tagalog, which derives alot of words from Spanish, but with different spelling. Sorry they called you a cow, too.

It's Japanese for stupid or dumb. My anime addicted daughter uses it all the time. She'll often say something like, "That girl is baka. I can't believe she called my friend ugly."

They might be telling you the common word for "goodbye" if they are Russain or perhaps another Slavic language. This would be Poka, pronounced PahKah.

It's Japanese for "idiot". If they called you that, chances are they're an immature anime fan. I suggest replying back with, "Sonna bakana!" which means "that's impossible". It'd be a nice play on words and they would obviously have no idea what you said. (Anime fans know zero real Japanese.)
