In the 60s and 70s everyone I knew had dandruff (including me). Now I don't know anybody who does (including me) and I don't know anybody who uses anti-dandruff shampoo either.
Mine went away on it's own sometime in the early 80s I think.

I think that you are generalizing a bit too much. Just because YOU and everyone YOU know don't have it anymore does not mean no one else in the world gets it.
I have particularly dry, sensitive skin. I get dandruff when seasons changes. Like right now. I use anti-dandruff shampoo a couple times a week. If "no one" got dandruff anymore, don't you think the anti-dandruff companies would be out of business??
Guess you and your friends are just plain lucky.

Dandruff is still around and people still use dandruff shampoos.

Depends on which country you live in coz its still ubiquitous where I live in which is Sri Lanka

maybe water treatment everywhere has gotten better, so water isn't drying your scalp out like it used to? just a guess...
