"Quod nos non necat nos munit"

Since, (to the extent that), we are not dead we are strengthened.

All other translations below qualify, this is literal only.

Quod = and, because, since, whereas, but, the point that, as far as, the fact that, now, to the extent that

nos = we, us

non = not

necat = death, dead, dying

nos = we, us

munit = fortifications, "are fortified", strengthened, "made stronger", etc.

Litterally: what does not kill us protects us (or: gives us strength). I am sure you will know an english expression that has the same meaning..
