I like your question, but unfortunately have no clue what is meant by the term: "American Dream".

I do have some knowledge of what it is that I want though.

The thing I value most in life is... FREEDOM to come, go, and do as I choose.

Therefore "MY DREAM" is... to have more of that which I value most.

The American Dream is basicly nothing but an illusion that the Americans have about how great their country is, and that just the fact that being born an american or immigrating into the US (for non-americans) gives them a hope to succeed in life and live joyfully.
Of course this is a load of shít and misery and exclusion is everywhere in the USA but everyone closes their eyes on them.

The American dream has always been the car, the boat, the house, the good looking family, and California sunshine. The unreality's of life. I am British and have no desire to chase something that I know only exists in Heaven.

I think the main parts of the American dream is materialism, frontier values (aggressiveness and group cooperation to get what you want), the rags to riches dream (where when you come to America and you can suddenly become rich with working your *** off), commercialism, moralism ( where any thing goes when trying to get your dream even if it seems wrong/immoral) and work ethics (you have to work hard and you shouldn't be lazy and not work)

It used to be to get married, buy a house, have kids, and retire in florida. Now there is so much more to the equation. A lover or two or three dozen, drugs, drinking, weight management, working out, discovering that your bi-sexual (everyone seems to be Bi lately), divorcing, plastic surgery, starting over, rebuilding your pension, oh... & last, but not least, being a bonafide MILF!
