Echinacea Herbal Tea

There are many health aids out there to make you less uncomfortable during a cold, and I recommend that you take cold medicines for that. But the best remedy for actually getting rid of a cold quickly is grape juice.

To cure the common cold, you should drink one cup of cold grape juice. One cup is all it takes. Then, eat sensibly, drink plenty of fluids, and get lots of rest, and in a week to ten days, you're cold will be gone. This miracle cure works so well that it's a wonder we don't read more about it in the National Enquirer!
(Ornery Grin).

Seriously, the best thing you can do for a cold is treat the symptoms and take care of yourself until it goes away on its own. If Echinecea or Vitamin C seem to help (though some studies seem to say they don't), then it's not going to hurt to try. But the biggest thing is take this as a sign that you need to destress and pamper yourself. Get extra rest and unclutter your schedule. For some strange reason that is still poorly understood, there DOES seem to be a connection between high stress and frequent/severe infections of this nature. Some people think that it's a sign that your body and mind need a break.

Studies have shown that Echinacea does not work like people think it does. My best advice is:

1. bundle up and try to sweat, because sweating helps remove germs from the lymph nodes and body

2. drink alot of fluids, water, citrus drinks, chicken noodle soup

3. gargle with warm salt water in the throat and salt mist in the nose

4. Cold-eeze brand name cough drops, they are zinc, suck on them every 2 hours at the start of the cold

5. Zicam zinc nose spray in each nostril as directed on the bottle.

6. vaporizer with vicks menthol in it

7. Robitussan orange vitamin C cough drops.

I am very vulnerable to colds, I'm anemic and a cancer survivor, I do all of these at first sign of a cold and it knocks them flat in 2-3 days whereas without these it would take me a few weeks to get over one.

I tried those two days ago and still have full blown colds. I am taking the rest route.
Rest and plenty of fluids. Doubled up the echinacea, which is taking its sweet time in working.
The fresh ginger with honey was not too bad.
Hope you wouldnt get colds ! It is not fun.

First, stay away from diary products when you are feeling congested- it increases the mucus production in the body. Then brew a cup of hot tea, put in lemon, honey, a little sugar, and a shot of brandy...maybe 1/2 shot. :) You can spice it up with cloves and cinnamon as well. Feel better soon!

Try tons of Vitamin C...5-10,000 mg. Besides that, eat some really spicy chicken soup. I make my own and add lots of garlic, onion, hot pepper flakes and black pepper. I suppose you could just add the spicy ingredients to canned soup. This really gets the sinuses cleared and seems to work for us.

drink chicken soup.....rest a lot..drink lots of water...limit talking to rest your throat...wipe with lanolin tissues.
