Who do you think " Mystery Babylon" is?

Rev 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Is it possible it could be America? What do you think?

America is a super power so why couldn't be?

I don't think so. Mainly because America is run as a secular nation whose peoples also practice religion. The "Mystery Babylon" tends to be a very large religious organization due to certain clues.

For one, she is a great harlot. Harlot, another name for prosititute. So Babylon whores herself with anyone and everyone, perferably with heads of state, aka "kings of the earth". But what kind of "whoring"? Mainly doing favors for compensation. So, the kings would by favors of Babylon and the only limit was how much one was willing to spend.

She is also a mother of harlots. Meaning we should be able to see her offspring for they will be copies of her. We can look for a possible structure where we can see a clear path leading to here.

She is also a mother of abominations. Not everything is an abomination to God, but we can see various things that He calls an "abomination" in scripture. So we then know that Babylon would do things that are against God and His commandments.

She is also known to be drunk on the blood of saints. Not what men call saints, but whom God calls saints.

And she is also called the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.

Many have added these all together and pointed the finger to the Catholic Church. Some have pointed to the Vatican and its Pope. But people don't want to point too hard because when it comes to the harlot's offspring, the fingers tend to point to other denominations, ie Baptist, Methodist, etc.

The truth is it does point in that direction, but not so narrow as to point only to the Catholic branch. In fact, the evidence points to Christianity on the whole.

Mystery Babylon is present-day Christianity as we know it. It is the latest incarnation of the Roman Empire with the Vatican and the Pope at its head. Many of the offshoot beliefs refuse to accept it, but the Vatican and the Pope is the head of all Christianity - both the Catholic Church and All her daughters.

I have often thought that just by the description of the destruction of it in Revelation it has open warm water sea ports, used for importing and exporting, this does not fit Rome, the US fits the description of Babylon the Great in Revelation 18 plus where is the world trade center located? Also ironic that there is a Babylon New York... gives us something to think about.

Babylon is Christianity! The Catholic Church is the mother, and all the different Churches that came from it are her child whores!


The Catholic Church wrote the Bible and it is the beginning of, or mother of Christianity.
Christianity is the pagan cult in Rev. 17:5 BABYLON the Mother of Whores.

I dunno. I always thought it could be LA, but then again, I try to keep away from trying to figure out what St Paul was talking about. I think that as it happens, so it is revealed, and I don't think we're much past ch 8 in the Apocalyse. There are other prophecies out there, some that are in concurrence with the Paulian vision. I'd have to find out what Babylon means, where the city was, what happened to it, what went on in it, and most importantly, what it meant to St Paul and those to whom the account is directed toward. This is one of those troublesome things that make you want to just rest and be human for a while instead of the sage of the ages. If God won't reveal it to you, you won't get it.

No it couldn't be a country because it is said to be in all the countries or over all the governments.
The governments are pictured as beasts with 7 horns and always as wild beasts, so that couldn't be it.
It is religion, it is over the governments> Soon the governments will turn on religion. The bible says and make her devasted and naked. In other words expose all false religion as for what they are. They have to. right now they can't stop war. What is behind all the wars? Religon! To stop war and the fighting they will turn on religion. all religion not just Christianity.
Look at how muslims are killing muslims. There is fights over religion everywhere in the world.

The United States is the Whore of Babylon for our nation right now is exactly like what the nation of Babylon used to be. John was shown a "WHORE THAT SITS UPON MANY WATERS", which many very well be the STATUE OF LIBERTY. For every nation will drink of her, sounds like today with every nation feeding off the United States.

This country is doomed, its right there in Revelation. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. He gives the nation blessings, but with one twitch of his finger He can destroy that same nation.

The European Union is the Revived Roman Empire which will be headed up by the Antichrist.

I won't win any points for this. But my understanding is that Babylon
was the first known international city. Where all the religions of the world were
observed.
Great Babylon is all of mans organized religions. All of which are based on
spiritual truth, but have gone their own way according to mans wisdom,
(interpretations).
That have cared more for power and prestige, wealth, (spending millions on bigger and better churches), instead of caring for the poor. And create division in the Body of Christ.

Babylon,is the symbolic name of ancient Rome that persecuted the early Christians. I don' t think America could fit vs 6 following,"I saw that the woman was drunk on the blood of the holy ones and on the the blood of the witnesses(martyrs)to Jesus. What do you think vs6 means?
