Is there any way to cure "short sight" permanently by a surgery?

I know 4 people that have had the Lasik surgery done and 2 of them require reading glasses when they did not need them before the surgery, but they did not have to wear glasses to see far away.

lasik. Have a lot of friends who have that kinda laser surgery done and the results are miracles.
