Simple...

The body is only designed to take in a certain amount (milligrams) of caffeine (I want to say it's 200 mg or one cup of coffee)...once you hit that mark, your body goes into overdrive trying to process the excess caffeine...therefore, you get sleepy. Think of how sleepy you get after eating a big dinner....same theory.

How much coffee are you drinking a day? Any other energy drinks? Popping Vivarin or No Doz? The reason I ask is that too much caffeine will actually make you tired. You won't be able to sleep, or if you do, it won't be for long. But it will sap the energy right out of you.

the caffeine content could have been draining your adrenals causing you to have an opposite reaction than most people. this reverse reaction does pretty much what you say it's doing. if you still want energy i would recommend that you take an apple to get the caffeine or vitamin b 12 supplements. this will re boost your adrenals, but i can't guarantee that the coffee will be able to help you out anymore. but at least now you'll know how to get to sleep.

Hi Nine.

I recently am suffering the same affliction!
I drink one coffee in the morning around 9am (get up at 6) and by 1pm I'm so tired that I drink another (usually between 1 and 2pm), however, during that second cup, I feel like passing out!
My eyes get all heavy, my head starts to lull.

I know this isn't an answer... but please let me know when get one!
Thanks muchly!!!

Some people, especially those with ADD (attention deficit disorder) actually react just the opposite to any medication or chemical than most people do.

I would guess that you may have that kind of condition.

Why it used to give you a boost of energy, though.... I don't know.

You're drinking too much coffee. Homeopathically this is known as the polarity effect. What makes you energised will make you soporific if done to excess. We use our remedy "Coffea Cruda" to cure insomnia.

in case you do no longer make it your self, yet purchase a cup of coffee at your community mini-mart, it would desire to easily be that the mart is extremely putting decaf contained in the universal pot by twist of fate. This has occurred to me many circumstances over.
