English Bulldog puppies will not go for around 500 dollars. Sometimes even adults will go for more than that. People that are breeding English Bulldogs, know the money that they can get out of it. And as Chzbrgr said, if you cant afford to by one, then you cant afford to pay the vet bills that are very high. They are very high maitenance, more than just a regular dog. They have very sensitive skin, and when given baths they need a certain kind of shampoo that is 20 dollars.

If you want a English Bulldog.....Save up the money for it. Trust me you wont regret that decision. If you buy a cheep Bulldog then you buy lots of health problems. You want to make sure you get a good breeder. Yes I know they are expensive but so worth it. I'm from Canada and they rang from $1500-$2500 here. We payed $2000 for our dog and he's two and he's great. The breed is a lot of work and does cost tonnes in Vet bills. Make sure you do your research on the breed and the breeder. Good luck!

It can cost $3000 - $5000 to have a litter of BDs. They are AIed and sectioned, and should be tested for cardiac, eyes, hips, elbows. And then may only have 2-3 puppies. LOL! How cheap do you think they should be?
BDs are expensive to breed and expensive to own as well. They tend to alot of health problems so to go and buy a 'cheap' one is asking for huge Vet bills later as the breeder is cutting some corners somewhere. Go to a good show breeder and get a (relatively) healthy pup, but expect to pay $2000 and up.

Bulldogs are expensive to buy because they are expensive to raise. They are high-maintenance healthwise (hope you've got a good emergency fund for vet bills) and usually require c-sections when whelping.
If you can't afford the purchase price of a well-bred bulldog, you certainly can't afford to look after one.

ME TOO!!! Oh man, my boyfriend and I desperately want an English bulldog puppy, more than anything. I asked a question similar to yours and the best answer I got was to check petfinder.com, they do have a large list of shelters with dogs waiting to be adopted but most are mixed breeds, old or really sick. I will continue to check back frequently to see if we get lucky. Adopting a puppy from a shelter is way cheaper than buying one from a breeder or petshop.
