That's not normal. I've had the flu shot about 5 times and never once have I had an adverse affect. There is some small percentage of people that have reactions. You should call the nurse/doctor tomorrow, or emergency if it gets worse. If you're allergic to eggs you can have a violent reaction.

I'm sorry about the others telling you that the flu shot may have caused you to get the flu, because it cannot. Not since the days of the swine flu (20 years ago +) has teh flu vaccine been made with live viruses. All flu vaccines today are made with dead viruses and cannot - cannot cause you to get the flu. The only possibility open if youget the flu shortly after receiving the vaccine is that you had already been exposed and the virus had already been incubated in your body. The vaccine, in this case, may help you have a less-intense flu than without it, but it cannot cause it. PERIOD!

The influenza vaccine is made from "killed" influenza virus. YOU CANNOT GET THE FLU FROM THE VACCINE.

What probably happened is that you were exposed to the flu prior to getting your vaccination. It takes a couple weeks for the vaccine to develop the immunity in your system, hence the need to vaccinate as early as you can. That doesn't mean that it is too late to get a flu shot...for folks on the West coast the flu doesn't begin to peak until March.

I have heard that if it's your first time, you get really sick. I am going to avoid the flu shot as long as I have a healthy immune system. The flu shot is more to help the elderly and health care workers or anyone who deals a lot with the public.

A flu shot is really a weakened virus being injected into your system. Your body recognizes it as a pathogen and builds anti-bodies to fight it. However, sometimes the virus is not weakened enough and it still has enough strength to attack your cells and reproduce inside of them. You can actually get the flu from a flu shot. It is not uncommon and it usually doesn't last very long.

Hope this helps!

i think it is normal, although 2 hours is a very quick response from your body, the fact is that a flu shot actually exposes you the flu germs..to build up your bodies defences...your body get's used to it and when the real flu germs enter your body, your body knows how to handle it and fights back and doesn't get sick. Although the flu germs that are offered at doctor offices aren't really checked if they are fully right, the ones offered at government offices are highly checked. so therefore, the flu shots that the public are exposed to aren't as protected and checked and could contain germs that aren't weekened making your body exposed to a full blast of flu germs which causes you to get sick..it's basically you get exposed the right way or not and you get sick...depends on how week the germ is... hope that helped, i know cause my father works for the gov and is a chemist who checks these drugs...good luck and hope you feel better..

It's not necessarily normal, but I get wicked sick when I get the flu shot too. I got one two and a half weeks ago and ended up with pneumonia! I started feeling very tired 2 hours after getting it and was feeling so poorly (dizzy, nausea, etc.) within 5 hours that I had to go to bed for a few days and still ended up sick.

They CLAIM there is no scientific basis for getting sick from a flu shot because the virus is killed, but tell that to all of us who get sick from it!

You have my sympathy!

Sometimes the flu shot or any other vaccine will actually cause the problem you took it to prevent. Is the first time you got the flu shot? I hear it's more common to happen if it's your first shot.

The flu shot is a dead virus so you can not get the virus from the shot itself. However, if you were already starting to get a virus, even if you didn't have symptoms, it can exaggerate that.

not within 6 hours.. it usually takes 1 to 3 days before any illness grows in your body... Like any virus you catch, it needs to bloom and grow.. the flu shot is like a low dose of the illness, but 6 hours is too soon to show any signs, unless you are allergic to some component in the shot.. Thats another issue altogether..
