She has been licking the area around the bottom of her tail near her anus. I just looked at it today closely and it looks like there is some hair loss, and red spots. I guess for an example, it looks like a strawberry when we humans get a really bad scratch or something. What could this be?

The only thing different I have done recently, is give her a new treat, Pedigree bones, the ones with the supposedly real bone marrow.

A groomer or vet tech will do it for about $7

Do you notice your dog dragging her bottom across the floor? The dog could have a clogged anal gland. I would take her to your vet. Its an easy fix - vet pops it. Good Luck.

I know that Groomers can empty the anal gland for you and if it is something else it should be treated take it to the vet just in case!

my cat did the same thing a few years ago. She had a bladder infection. We took her to the vet and they treated her and she has been fine ever since. Shouldn't be anything major.

Your dog may either have a rash or a flea bite. I suggest taking it to the vet for a checkup.

it could be an alergic reaction or something could have bitten her or she could have wiped her bottom on the concrete and scratched it a bit.
