I read your question incorrectly last time. I thought you had a hole in your tooth!

A hole in your gum is called a fistula. This is a drainage system for infection. You are lucky you have one! If you didn't, your face would be swollen.

The reason you have this fistula is b/c you have an infection at the tip of the root of your tooth. This is called an abscess. Sometimes your body will create a tube to drain the infection naturally. That is the fistula. This tooth still needs immediate dental care! The infection may clear up for a little while, but I guarantee it will return.

When you visit your dentist an x-ray will be taken of the area. It is very possible that the tooth can be saved by preforming a root canal. There are a few other options though. Such as an apicoectomy (tip of root removal). If the root canal fails this may be your option.

Don't wait. Call your dentist. Fix this problem before it gets worse!

Sounds like an abscess. Go see a dentist.

a few years ago i worked as a dental assistant--it sounds like you have an infection in the root of that tooth & it has found a way to relieve the pressure, by leaking out the infection. i suggest that you see a dentist soon to find out for sure. if you don't get it taken care of you could loose the tooth--Good Luck!

its just a cavity go to dentist and get it filled before it really start to hurt. i had quite a few of them on and in the gum line. they didn't hurt but i put off to long going to dentist and had to have them all pulled. but sounds to me like a cavity so have it checked out before you end up loosing it.

Do your gums bleed when you brush? You could have some form of gum disease. This is something you should discuss with your dentist.

I'm no dentist, but it sounds like you need one, and perhaps the problem you are having is an abcess.
