and amp takes a signal from your headunti, and amplifies it to the speakers. it also allows you to control the freq's going to the speakers.

bass

new headunit, new fronts, new rears, amp for fronts and rears, sub, amp for sub, sub box, amp kit, mouting kit, wiring harness.

for a "good" system, your going to have to spend probabley no less then a grand. just make sure you stay out of best buy and circit city.

no, not really. there overated. there amps are not bad as far as power, but sound quality blows.

here are some brands too look at

An Amp provides extra power for your Sub.

Your Sub will give you DRIVING BASS (excelent if your a bass freak like me)

I reccomend you buy a good head unit (radio), good speakers (doors and rear... components or coax depending on the sound quality you want), an amp that will push your sub, at least one good sub, and a four channel amp (optional) to get that extra bit out of your new speakers.

The setup I described in Sony brand, probably between 1.5K -2.5K... In JLAudio probably around 5K. (btw... I'm trying to over shoot by a bit to provide moving room)

Kicker is good (or so I'm told) Alpine is better (again... or so I'm told, though I have Alpine front to back... header, components in doors, coax in back, 550W Amp, and 12" sub), and JLAudio is better still (once again... or so I'm told)

I'm also told that brand loyalty will get you nowhere, and more often than not, a mix and match system will out perform a matching one... again so I'm told...
